Learn Like the Pros with Tranquil Heart Academic Modules Program





Take the same lessons as offered to students of the Tranquil Heart Yoga Teacher Training Course! Deepen your practice by studying the history and philosophy of the yoga tradition.  Become stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually by learning to train your body and mind through exercise and meditation.

Each Academic Module is comprised of multiple classes. Textbook(s) included in price of tuition. Tuition due in full on or before first class meeting.

Students will gain a working knowledge of the fundamentals of a successful yoga asana practice by exploring the topics Breath, Bandhas, Drishti and Vinyasa. Ashtanga Yoga: Practice and Philosophy by Gregor Maehle text will assist in teaching the fundamentals of yoga asana including, Breath, Bandhas, Drishti, and Vinyasa.

Saturdays 7/11 – 8/1 • 1:30 – 4:30 pm • $200

Philosophy: The Yoga Sutras

Students will read and understand how the sutras are applied to a modern yoga discipline, including exploration of the Yamas and Niyamas as a model to practicing and teaching ethically. Ashtanga Yoga: Practice and Philosophy by Gregor Maehle text will be used to thoroughly discuss and explore the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Mondays 7/13 – 8/31 • 7:00 – 9:00 pm • $400

Anatomy of Hatha Yoga

Students will gain a working knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it applies to yoga asana. The book Anatomy of Hatha Yoga: A Manual for Students, Teachers, and Practitioners by David H. Coulter will be read, discussed and thoroughly examined in this 10-week module. Topics discussed: Movement and Postures, Breathing, Abdominopelvic Exercises, Standing Postures, Back-Bending Postures, Forward-Bending Postures, Twisting Postures, Inverted Postures, Relaxation and Meditation.

Wednesdays 7/15 – 9/16 • 7:00 – 9:00 pm • $500

Pranayama: The Breath of Yoga

Students will gain a working knowledge of various breathing techniques and how to apply in a therapeutic setting. Pranayama: The Breath of Yoga by Gregor Maehle text will be used to explore beginner and intermediate Pranayama Techniques. Topics will include: Fundamentals of and Preparation for Pranayama; Techniques: Ujjayi/Bhastrika, Dosha-Changing Pranayamas, Kundalini and Meditation Pranayamas

Saturdays 8/8 – 8/29 • 1:30 – 4:30 pm • $200

The Bhagavad Gita and The Upanishads

Students will learn the ancient roots of different types of yogic systems and how to apply them in the modern context. Explore sections the ancient texts of The Bhaghavad Gita and The Upanishads.

Mondays 9/14 – 10/19 • 7:00 – 9:00 pm • $300

The Integral Anatomy Series

Students will learn and observe how the fasciae are interconnected and how it relates to movement. Gil Hedly Presents Whole Body Dissection of the Skin, Superficial, Deep, Muscle, Cranial Fascia, Viscera & Visceral Fasciae

Wednesdays 9/23 – 10/14 • 7:00 – 9:00 pm • Free

Yoga Meditation

Students will gain a working knowledge of yogic meditation techniques their useful application. Yoga Meditation: Through Mantra, Chakras and Kundalini to Spiritual Freedom by Gregor Maehle text will be explored to develop a useful meditation practice. Topics discussed wil be: The Hatha Yoga Laws or the Physical Dimension of Meditation, The Raja Yoga Laws or the Mental Dimension of Meditation and The Bhakti Laws or the Spiritual Dimension of Meditation

Saturdays 9/5 – 9/26 • 1:30 – 4:30 pm • $200
